Great Magazine
Keep in mind that this is info for the serious collector. I found the articles to be thorough and accurate. This magazine is targeted at the collector of museum quality antiques. They include a great deal of information on construction, how to identify styles, as well as individual makers. Many of the topics covered here are rare and expensive, but the info provided gives one great insight on how to evaluate what's readily available. ... Read more

Antiques Roadshow Insider mimics show
This magazine is great for anyone who doesn't always get the opportunity to see the show on a regular basis. If you watch the show regularly and re-watch it in repeats, the magazine will not tell you anything you didn't already see. It is nice to have it somewhere in writing to make references though. ... Numismatics, come out of the closet
Weekly issue in tabloid form.

This is the publication you have been waiting for. It is not just some sort of glorified price list. You will find out the latest news in the coin world and articles to enhance your existing collection. Find out where the trade shows are. You can also find this at trade shows; however is nice to have a copy on the off times when you are saving for the next show. You will get the latest information on people that influence coin collecting.
If you are interested in market trends they can be found here also.

There is also an online counter part so you can get the latest news through e-mail.

The only warning is that you will not be able to part with your older copy.

Geared to the collector/investor so lots of great data!
I subscribe to this because I like the fact that it has all of the up to date info on US mint programs, machinations, mintage reports and auction gossip with results, etc. It also has a very active classifieds section and super coin dealer ads. In addition there is the obligatory spec piece on overlooked and undervalued coins/coin segments, etc. which probably don't amount to a hill of beans actually but always get one to thinking about the particular coin/coin segment highlighted in the particular article. An oddly compelling part of the magazine is the letters section where very opinionated people tend to bash each other over the course of two or three issues. It is a lively and engaging part of the magazine-newsweekly that would be sorely missed if it were ever cut out. Also there is often a guest opinion or two from some of the coin world's heavy weights and/or notables. Every other issue or so there is an insert that lists either upcoming auctions and coin shows, or a table of inflated coin values (per all coin magazine tradition). On price alone, I highly recommend this but also if you like the cult/star trek aspect of coin collecting this is certainly a must-subscribe to periodical.

Should be titled "People & Personalities"
Compared to "Art & Auction," "Art @ Antiques" is fairly breezy and superficial. Too many articles profile wealthy socialite collectors or handsome artists whose work is mostly decorative--in the Leroy Neiman league. (One annual feature profiles "The top 100 collectors" which is, of course, nothing but gush.)The paid advertisements mostly feature artists of the post-Grandma Moses school. If you want to sharpen your taste and enlarge your knowledge of the art world, this is not the magazine to start with. ... Read more

This is a great weekly publication
This magazine (it's acutally more like a newspaper) is a publication that I look forward to getting every week. I read on average, 80 - 90% of the articles. Traditional antique collectors and Collectible collectors alike will always find some articles, appraisals and commetary that will be of interest. ... Read more

More meaty than Wizard
While sections like "Longbox Manifesto" and "Ask Mr. Silver Age" will certainly appeal to long-time comic book lovers, CBG is a magazine that, month-in and month-out, will contain new and fresh news and stories that you more-than-likely didn't read elsewhere.The comic book and graphic novels reviewed each month are more than just Marvel and DC books, too, which is nice.

Wheras Wizard simply regurgitates the same news found on the various comic book sites online, Comics Buyers Guide is refreshingly new.

It's Wizard for the more discerning reader
When Comics Buyers Guide was a weekly tabloid, it appealed mainly to the hardcore comic book collector. Now that it has switched to a monthly format, delivering a healthy 244+ pages/issue, it has evolved into a dual-purpose magazine, still meeting the collector's needs while offering much more content for the discerning comic book reader and/or fan.

While Wizard is very good at what it does, hyping the latest Marvel and DC projects while offering a glimpse at the world beyond the big two - and the fanboys justifiably love it for that reason - Comics Buyers Guide offers meatier content and covers a much wider range of comics, with actual reviews as opposed to PR hype and creator-driven spin. Also, their price guide is more realistic, and thorough, than Wizard's seemingly hype-driven guide.

If you have to choose between them, Comics Buyers Guide is the one you want on a monthly basis.

How to get immersed in comics-buying culture!
This weekly publication is a great way to dive into the culture of the comics-buying world.The letters page is several pages long, often written by incredibly knowledgable and insightful readers.Also included are lots of reviews, articles on the industry and upcoming creative news, informative/interesting/entertaining columnists, convention guides, publication schedules, and classifieds.Content ranges from the beginnings of comic book history all the way to what's happening a year from now.Definitely a highlight of my week; often I read this before I read the comics I just bought.This comes from a publisher whose primary focus has been on collecting (coins, stamps, records, etc.)Trustworthy and entertaining! ... Sheer beauty
I've been reading Doll Costuming for over a year and think it is excellent with high quality graphics and well written feature articles. It is a pleasure just to browse through and for the more adventurous, each issue includes 1 to 3 pull out patterns as well as directions for accessories. The patterns are not easy and shouldn't be, since the costumes are elaborate but they are so well explained that you can follow them.
