5-0 out of 5 stars Super Street is wet...
Super Street is the best import tuning magazine out right now, and its decently priced...can't shake a stick at that...

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Street For Life
Super Street is by far the best import magazine out there! It has extremely great articles, hot chicks, and hilarious caption comments as well as funny writers and editors!!! I would recommend this over ANY other import magazine!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Street
This is the best import tuning magazine around. It's a must have...I have subscribed to this magazine for 3 years now, and it keeps getting better and better!!!

Not only is it funny but they have the best articles as well! I would recommend this to anyone who loves import tuning!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Much agreed
even if you cant stand their editorial style, and it is quite humorous at times compared to the sometimes bland(technical-but hey I still read SCC because they teach me and they showcase new products super street doesnt) style of that other big import mag....You know the one(SCC ,duh.). Anyway, its a realy good read for the most part, and like I said even if you dont like the articles get it for the hook-ups(web-links, and general info.), the other guy pinned it down when he said it is our BIBLE! I've been searching for months and pick up a super street and you can find little corner adds for websites that import parts that no one else carries and you wont find anywhere else....even ads for companies that make parts I didnt know existed because they're doing so well on the west coast they havent needed to advertise just yet because they have been so busy...Even multiple tricks on google didnt bring back these websites...and I sure couldnt find them in SCC....but I still read SCC for it's higly technical rundowns...not like Super street doesnt do build-ups...they just cover the glam a little more. Bling-Bling and go-fast sevice w/ a smile laugh it up, like funny..."haha"

5-0 out of 5 stars For the Muscle Car Enthusiasts
Super Chevy is the preeminent chevy muscle car magazine. It has features on specific cars as well how to's and the goings on in their car show circuit. I personally like the restoration project series whether its on a Camaro from a couple of years ago or the current Chevelle rehab. Also their advertisers are true restoration specialists so its also a good reference source. The only down side is their inconsistent delivery or maybe that's just where I live...Happy reading !! 4-0 out of 5 stars muscle cars
Super Chevy is a on top magazine they keep you well informed on helpful info for building hot engines & doing it with value in mind, they are also helpful with visual pictures in a step by step sequence with many hints that the average person can understand. I also like it when they show different parts & electrical pictures for building a car from start to finish the more information the better, this is true for transmissions & rear ends. Also like all the great hands on how to do it from people in the know, thanks!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine
This is just about the only decent magazine I've found that covers only cruisers. Don't care about which new crotch rocket can do a 9-second quater? This is the magazine for you. It covers all the new bikes, with great reviews from many different riders and perspectives, plus gives general riding tips and maintenance/modification guides.

4-0 out of 5 stars 6 issues? You kidding?
I love this magazine. As soon as they start running it every month I'll raise my rating. This mag fills the gap between the sea of sportbike mags and the sea of Harley/Indian mags. Honda, Kawi, etc. are innovating like mad. The 1800's and 2000's are coming out and need to be covered! Thankfully, this mag fits the bill. It is worth reading, but needs to meet its potential. It needs to be more in depth, and published more frequently.
Happy reading

5-0 out of 5 stars Best cruiser mag...
Places all manufacturers on the same level...

Good unbiased reviews - feature bike reviews have multiple editors contributing their opinions. I also enjoy the multi-bike "shootouts" where a group of riders take turns & eval a class of bikes.

Good product reviews - in depth product tests as well as grab bag of new products in each issue.

Light on the technical articles, but this seems to be improving as they add staff.

The editorial team seems to attend & report on most major events and as a bonus, spin off features of their rides across country to these events. This is one of the mags I read several times before the next issue arrives...there is a website now as well .... Good buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still My Favorite
I really preferred its earlier incarnation as a more touring oriented mag, but I suppose they had to follow the market. Still a very good cycle sheet for the more serious cruiser rider - as versus the bar hoppers. Great technical stuff, not afraid to express an opinion and quite up to date. Pretty much treats the Milwaukee and Metric crowds as equals - and feature both in their time, although they (thankfully) don't waste much space on the biker scene. If they have an agenda, I've not detected it and I often use the advice they offer when I'm out shopping for the latest and greatest toys for my bike (a heavy metric cruiser). This is the cycle mag I buy most often, as it generally suits my interests of fair-weather cruising, and casual to medium-distance touring.

5-0 out of 5 stars Knowledgeable, Thoughtful, Safety-oriented
What really makes this magazine a must-buy are the safety columns by Art Friedman, who was the founding editor and also used to be editor of companion mag MotorCyclist. Friedman has been writing for moto-mags longer than I've been riding, and has a real commitment to moto safety. He was the main man behind the Agenda for Motorcycle Safety a few years ago and writes columns in the Survival section that have saved my life a few times and some friends' too. That's worth the price by itself. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The sports compact scene without the lifestyle BS
This magazine isn't a fashion show about the new youth culture and it doesn't pander to people like some of the car shows on TNN. It stays focused on the cars and doesn't stray to the "lifestyle" aspect of the sport. This is a real magazine for real car guys. I was impressed by the detailed technical sections and by the understandable explanations about how various parts do (and more importantly don't) help your car perform better in the real world. The head to head tests are excellent. There are lots of pictures and features about cool cars, but they haven't pushed the substantive sections of the magazine out - its a very nice combination.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well Written, Informative, and not Boy Racer Friendly
I am a loyal subscriber to SCC, and I must say that it is by far the most well written and technologically informative and up to date automotive magazine in print. One of the things that impresses me about the mag is the fact that they use real horsepower ratings. They measure the amount the car actually puts out to the wheels and not to the flywheel. They also actually know what they are talking about in terms of suspension dynamics and well thought out engine mods. The fact that they focus on more than just the Honda "scene" is also a breath of fresh air. SCC, as its title emphsizes, does cover a niche market, but they are always accurate in their reviews of new cars. These guys are hardcore, and they could care less if the newest import to hit the market has cup holders or not. All they care about is how the car performs, which frankly, is what a technically minded, all go, no show guy or gals wants anyway. The only other mag that can hold a candle to SCC is perhaps Grassroots Motorsports.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Car Magazine.. front to back.
First of all, you might find the price a little steep compared to the big 4 magazines (Road&Track, Car&Driver, Motor Trend, and Automobile) but when you start reading it you immediately understand why... It's thick.. it's loaded with great articles and some profoundly interesting editorials from guys who like to drive fast cars while saving a little $$$. Ever since I first fell in love with cars I've read those big 4 magazines previously mentioned, rarely spending a month with a subscription to less than 2 of them.. until I found SCC. Now when I read the big 4 (C&D is the worst) and read review after review by journalists who don't understand cars, or what makes them tick. I've yet to read a C&D in the past 6 months that hasn't stated that bigger wheels = more grip.., c'mon Car & Driver!! Send your reviewers back to high school physics!!

Sport Compact Car is full of ads trying to sell you gargantuan fiberglass wings, body graphics, clear acrylic hoods, neon kits and other all-show-no-go items, but you will notice that the guys at SCC never put any of that [stuff] on their project cars. Every once in a while a few small pictures of girls in bikinis find their way onto the pages (so don't fret guys) but they're never the focus.

If you like magazines that try their best not to bias themselves against cars made on certain continents, or magazines that tell you why stuff works, or magazines that get down to actually making cars faster and showing you how without making it boring, this is your stop. If you happen to enjoy some biases, check out European Car, their sister magazine, where you'll enjoy most of the same technical articles, but as the name says, european cars only.

Something else you may find interesting.. SCC doesn't review new cars as often as the big 4, but they do cover every interesting new compact. They declared earlier this year that they were committed to actually testing every single new car that they review on a dynomometer because of many discrepancies between manufacturers claims and actual output at the wheels (yes, they factor in drivetrain loss).

Lately SCC has been publishing their new car reviews a month before the big 4 can get their hands on them... mostly because the car manufacturers have heard about the buzz... it's about time you did too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well designed and Well written
This is by far one of the most technical of auto mags out there. They pride themselves on long SLOW buildups with honest info on what works and what doesn't. Some of the best writer's (IMHO) and awesome pictures. Not to mention the fact that they really have a respect for fun small cars in general and not just one area of the market. It's almost like a old HotRod magazine, but with a technology bent. Well written, concise, and best of all really stright forward.. By far the best import/sport compact mag out there. The only one that comes close is Turbo.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine for all those car lovers
The great thing about this magazine is the fact that you can acutally use and attain the ideas that are in the magazine. Most other mags concentrate on cars over 50 grand. This focuses on cars that are usually under 25 grand. It tells you how to tune them, tells you where to go to get the best service, and has interesting articles on new and upcoming devices that may interest you. Also the pictures of the cars are great. Whomever their photographer is, is doing a great job. Also I love the letters; it is quite possibly the best part of the entire magazine. Pick one up at your local store, and if you plan to buy more than 4 issues in the future, get the subscription. I can't believe that you save so much money. Its like buying 4 and getting 8 free! If you like cars this is a great magazine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of two magazines for car buffs worth owning
Aside from Sports Compact Car magazine, Import Tuner is the only car magazine worth owning. Superstreet is absolutely horrendous...one of the copies I purchased was printed backwards and upside down...how they managed to do that I'll never know. All the other magazines in this class are either written poorly (superstreet) or a complete joke (dubs). This and SCC are the only two magazines worth owning if you are interested in the import car scene.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
I have been subscribing for four months and the hole magazine is great. It always has great cars and info about the cars. I have seen alot of great car magazines and this one is the best of all.

4-0 out of 5 stars negative picture
I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice but I still have to let you know about the reverse picture on page 60 of the April 2004 issue. The picture of the electronics on the floor board of the 62 Plymouth is a mirror image of the real thing. After starring at the photo for a minute or two trying to read the letters on the MSD ignition box and not knowing why the car suddenly was right hand drive it dawned on me that the negative was laid on the wrong side when the print was made. It's actually kinda cool. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This mag kicks ...!
Rod & Custom has had ups and downs over the past 50 years, but the current iteration is outstanding! It strikes a perfect balance between high-dollar dream cars and super low-buck real world projects, and the tech it pretty darn good as well. No magazine can be all things to all people, and this one doesn't try. There are no Rockasilly idiots or greasy haired wanna-be fonzie "kulture" stories, just cool cars.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hot Rod Lawn Chair Mag
This rag is the ideal material for the fatcats with loads of cash. You know the ones at shows with the cry baby dolls, trailer betties and lawn chairs. While this may be one of the classic rod rags, it seems to have lost its roots of the rod kulture, rather than making real world suggestions for the shade tree mechanic, it expects everyone to just go out and buy corvette engines, and kit cars. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely a Muscle Car mag
I'm going to have to agree with Fritz here. This muscle mag blows any of the others out of the water. The photography is excellent. You could restore a car by looking at these photos.

Not only does it do our favorite 60's and 70's muscle, but they throw in one modern piece of muscle per issue as well. Something I also enjoy.

The broad range of subjects covered is bar none the best ever in one mag. You can't call this Hemmings Chevy machines. I've seen everything here, AMC, Pontiac, Olds, Buick, Dodge, Plymouth, Chevrolet and the list goes on.... Definitely a must have for any auto enthusiast.

5-0 out of 5 stars HMM is my favorite car magazine
Hemmings Muscle Machines targets enthusiasts who enjoy American-made muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. The focus is primarily on cars in original condition, or restored to be like original.

Unlike other "sports car" magazines, you don't see much information on aftermarket performance build-ups and custom modifications. Nothing about high-end entertainment systems, and definitely no rice!

HMM goes out of there way to include a broad representation of makes and models. Lots of articles on AMC products. It's not just about Camaros, Corvettes and Mustangs (but these popular cars do get covered).

One of my favorite features are the buying guides for particular models. HMM highlights what to look for, problem areas, price ranges, etc.

Another feature I like is the brutally honest reviews of collector car auction results. Comments like "the high bid was more than fair, seller should have taken the money and ran" are very refreshing to read.

I also like the articles that tell the story of a particular car's history. How the current owner found the car, the history of the restoration, etc. Everyone loves a good "car in a barn" story...

The magazine itself is printed on high quality paper, with excellent photography. I look forward to receiving it every month. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars too little info, too much money
Have not seen a copy of this mag for sale in a while, thought they went out of business. I used to buy it just to read Minton, he made alot of sense, and the Roll Up Your Sleeves was not bad. Most of the other articles in the magazine were just crap, like fashion comparisons on touring jackets. Tour pics and info totally inferior compared to AAA. Minton only one writing for this rag that knew spit about bikes. I would not waste the money on this rag again. Too little info, pitiful articles, and way too expensive for what you get.

2-0 out of 5 stars Tries to be informative - but isn't
I've read many issues of most of the import magazines particularly, Import Tuner, Super Street, Sport Compact Car, and Turbo. I have to say that Turbo is almost as bad as IT. Although Turbo does focus more on performance than IT, the editors don't actually know enough about cars to write truly informative articles. The sad thing is, I learned more about turbos from an issue of Sport Compact Car, where they had an article about Compressor mapping than I did from the "tech" issue of Turbo. Car magazines don't always have to be informative though, as Super Street illustrates with it's humorous writing and general off-wall-ness, but unlike Super Street Turbo takes itself seriously, and really isn't any fun. The only redemption I see in Turbo is that they will occasionally cover interesting tuner cars and the JDM scene(Turbo organizes an annual trip to Japan to see the Tokyo Auto Salon)

For informative articles and good writing, get SCC, for an entertaining read, get Super Street. Turbo aims for both and misses.

5-0 out of 5 stars For High Performance Enthusiasts for Imports (with Turbos)

I have been buying biker magazines for over 30 years. I have bought Easyriders, Biker Lifestyle, and Biker. I have even bought the regular motorcycle magazines such as American Motorcycle and Iron Horse but they don't measure up to Biker. I enjoy the articles and the pictures from the different events they go to. I use to go to any newsstand and be able to buy bike magazines but not anymore. It is getting harder and harder for me to find these type of magazines over the counter (with or without a plastic cover). Why have they quit having them in newstands? Do they sell them any place else? I can find old editions at some of the local flea markets at the biker apparel shops and the bike stores such as Harley Davidson. Anyway, I still love reading the Biker magazine and will continue to do so until they stop publishing it. Keep up the good work, guys!!! Your friend, Deb M. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Valhalla or Bust...
I doubt that anyone would think, based on my current lifestyle, that once upon a time I drove a Bronco, read 4 Wheel Drive Magazine, and dreamed of exotic trips down impassable canyons. Bouncing up and down on impossibly high tires. Now, many tears later, I find myself with a Jeep Wrangler, reading 4 Wheel Drive (and Sport Utility) Magazine, etc., etc. It is interesting how pattern repeat.

While I have no delusions about how well I would fare if I rambled through the woods on 40 inch tires, it is still fun to read about the machines and the life that makes that possible. 4 Wheel Drive Magazine is both the fodder for those dreams and a valuable source of information for those who really do use their vehicles for adventuring. A typical issue will have several articles about trails and get-togethers, coverage of new products, and a variety of technical studies on what to do to make your vehicle into a personal triumph. I particularly like the articles on rebuilding vintage machines. Probably because most of the 'great rides' of my youth are the vintage machines of today. In the world of off-roading, there is no such thing as too old.

This is a middle of the road trade journal. Not in quality, but in terms of its market segment. The typical reader is serious about his vehicle, willing and able to make modifications, but not swept away by the machismo image that is part of the off-road glamour. Articles are well written and disinclined to substitute attitude for knowledge. And there are plenty of pictures for dreamers like me. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Euro Heh?
I got this magazine and after two issues I cancelled. The new name says Euroturner, but what they mainly look at are German cars. I wouldn't get this magazine unless you like German cars. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars good magazine-slow delivery
My Husband and I love reading this magazine! Do we receive it at our home? NO! WE read it at Barnes and Noble. It's got awesome ideas and is worth the money. The funny thing is that I ordered it from Amazon for my husband in July, and it's not here at Halloween. So, magazine is cool, and makes a great gift. Just don't expect to receive it by Christmas if you are giving it as a gift, because it probably won't arrive until March!

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly the best Aircooled VW mag
This is a fantastic aircooled magazine. It consists of great pictures, event coverage, and helpful tech articles. Sure, that is standard for many magazines but the presentation is what makes it stand out. Hot VWs manages to draw their readers in and make them feel like they are part of the VW community. Something I don't feel other VW mags do well. They cover more customized VWs but will present stockers as well. This magazines also has great information if you are interested in high performance engines and are into the racing scene. Finally, they have several recurring themes each year, such as the February California Look issue (my favorite) or the Baja issue, etc. I have been a buyer/subscriber for the last 10 years and I plan on continuing as long as they are in print. Highly recommended! ... Read more
