If you want a sophisticated wedding, but you don't necessarily have the Martha Stewart instincts to sew your own ring-bearer pillows, Modern Bride will help you plan an elegant day nonetheless. The many style tips for the bride (from gowns to lingerie to makeup and hair), ideas on flowers and favors, accounts of real weddings, registry information, and honeymoon suggestions are bound to stir your imagination. Also included is postceremony advice on topics such as finance and sex. This is not the magazine to help you with the nitty-gritty--there are no monthly planning calendars or details on how to find the perfect reception hall or photographer--but it will give you great ideas for making your wedding day your dream day. As with any bridal magazine, much of what is useful is the abundance of ads, especially if you're still scouting for the perfect gown. --Jenny Brown ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's great to indulge yourself in all the details
This magazine is so beautiful, and helps so much to live in that fantacy fiance stage. I love looking at the dresses and cakes, and reading about the individual love stories.
I decided that one must fully indulge in the time period before they get married because it is such a short period of our lives. I as a result have done a lot of things to get me involved with the process.
I have been working-out regulary with girlfriends to look amazing for the big day, I started a calligraphy course so that I could do the invitations- it's really fun.

I bought singing lessons on CD "Voice Lessons To Go" by Vaccarino- (they're so good!) because I want to sing our special song to my fiance at the reception as a surprise for him.

I even bought the "New Sex Now" DVD which I am saving for the hotel on our honeymoon (It came highly recommended by my girlfriend-!)

It should all be about the process of celebration. God knows we have such hard times in our lives that we have to endure. This magazine just helps me ejoy life a bit more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Helpful for the Bride
I've subscribed to many different Bridal Magazines at different times and Modern Bride is one of my favorites. If you're going to get married, no matter what your budget is, you should pick up at least one of these, or at least read it at your local bookshop/library. Most of the pages are, of course, filled with beautiful pictures of bridal gowns in the latest and classic styles, tuxedos, bridesmaids and attendent wear as well as accessories, home products, special offers and so forth. The articles may seem a bit flippant but most brides DO care what dress shape will flatter their figure the best, and what make-up looks the best for the camera. There are also stories from real engaged and married couples and featured weddings, Q&As on different topics such as beauty, etiquette, budgets, etc. Also, there is a special section with articles and advice for honeymoon destinations and send-away offers for information on almost every aspect of weddings.

Also, being an expectant bride-to-be and flipping through a Modern Bride magazine is so much FUN! It gets you excited for your special day, and helps you to plan and prepare yourself for your future, and get the latest info and pictures of gowns, hairstyles, make-up and accessories. A subscription is a great engagement gift for any girl, and the information she'll get will be invaluable to her. And if you're buying it for yourself, remember its not just a treat, its an important investment that can save you lots of money and TIME on the day that you're going to remember for the rest of your life.

1-0 out of 5 stars Modern Bride
I Love the Mag, but sister never recieved the order I gave her as a gift!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thanks for the wedding music article
What a great magazine!
I was looking for a CD with the songs
"A Song For My Son" (for the mother groom dance)
and "A Song For My Daughter" (for the bride from her mom or dad)
and I found all the informaiton in my favorite magazine.
It was great to know I could get these songs as singles on their own CD (to give as gifts to our parents) or I could get them togeather on a full CD with other wedding songs called "New Wedding Traditions Volume I"
And then I found out I could buy all these CDs from Amazon.com
I am one happy bride.
Thank you Modern Bride!

5-0 out of 5 stars Most Realistic and Useful of Them All
I found this to be the most useful of the bridal magazines. It has pictures of bridal gowns that people will actually wear, advice that is actually useful, and articles that are realistic. I definitely think this is the way to go if you are getting married in the future. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The creme de la creme of wedding magazines
I've subscribed to a number of wedding magazines in the past, and Martha Stewart Weddings is my personal favorite. This magazine is classy and sharp and is for the bride who wants to add a distinguished and timeless flair to her wedding. Its great for brides on any budget because Martha Stewart has a hands-on approach to everything. This magazine doesn't just show you beautiful favors and cakes, its tells you *step-by-step* how to make them yourself - and they are relatively simple and come out looking great. The advertisements featured, such as gowns, shoes, accessories, tuxedos and honeymoon destination, are all very attractive and well done. If you can't afford designer couture this will give you a great idea how to imitate it - Martha Stewart herself made her own hat for her wedding, something that was unheard of for a rich socialite! Even if you're on a tight budget, this magazine shows you that the phrase 'inexpensive does not mean cheap' is true.

This magazine makes a beautiful and thoughtful gift for any engaged woman or couple you know, and is indispensable if you're planning a wedding yourself - I would give it more than five stars if I could!

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique Ideas you can do yourself
This magazine helped me and my husband with so many great ideas when we were planning our wedding. I got back online to order it as a gift for three friends who are engaged and planning weddings this year. It's always full of great unique ideas easily adaptable to different weddings and often things you can easily do yourself! A must for a simply elegant wedding!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A magazine for mature (not to mean old) brides
This magazine is great!!! The Weddings magazine is for the bride who wants great ideas and advice for a stylish and elegant wedding. The magazine includes great articles for wedding tips, sanity savers and after the wedding advice. Weddings does contain advertisements for attire, BUT that is not their only service. This magazine also includes wonderful "real wedding" stories that are inspiring and give great ideas for your own wedding. I highly recommend this magazine for a more mature bride, or for a bride who already has picked out her dress but still wants great wedding ideas. ... Read more

If you're going to the chapel, you'll want to have Bride's magazine by your side to help you navigate the ins and outs of your wedding day. Brought to you by the publisher ofVogue, Glamour, and Mademoiselle, Bride's has the same down-to-earth tone as its sister magazines. Lots of Q&As help answer all the niggling questions (topics covered are fashion, health, reception, and sex) and accounts of real weddings give you plenty of ideas to borrow. A bride's calendar and a separate groom's calendar will help you plan month by month, and a registry guide will advise on what (and how much) you'll need to set up your new home. You'll get lots of details--working with florists and photographers, creating a program, understanding etiquette, building a wedding Web site, and such--plus a smattering of honeymoon and postwedding life advice. As with any bridal magazine, the abundant ads are useful, especially if you're still shopping for the perfect honeymoon destination. --Jenny Brown ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Lush visual display, but if you're average...
This is a nice magazine to get to dream about dresses, etc. But most of what you will see is too $$. There are some good checklists for preparing and terrific ads, etc. to find what you need. Also, you can gather some great ideas.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful to look at, but geared towards the affluent
This magazine is an aesthetic feast for the eyes. I really enjoyed looking at the wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, etc.. However, the suggestions contained within are only for those that can afford it. The featured weddings are weddings that are thrown by families with more money than the average American family. I would love to see a wedding magazine geared towards the middle class with suggestions for budgeting and saving money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Buy a few issues
Sure there are a lot of ads but that doesnt detract from the fact that whats important is here: pictures of gowns, accessories, hairstyles, etc. And the articles are useful too but hardly anything new that most women dont already know. All in all a useful pickup as the big day draws near.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK so far as it goes
These magazines are funny things, as they are very expensive and yet seem to consist mainly of advertisements. The primary subject seems to be wedding dresses, and it can be helpful to have a range of styles in front of you rather than having to go to a show or bridal shop. There is less attention paid to venues and ceremonies, but the advertisements in the back might help there. What would really help is if every issue contained some sort of checklist as it can be daunting planning your own wedding. It's O.K., and great fun to buy if you have just got engaged and are excited about the wedding, but for practical purposes a wedding planner book is more use.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bridal Indeed!
Sure, this magazine covers the bases of bridality/bridalness. It has plenty of articles about planning weddings and the entire matrimonial process. However, it lacks one KEY component. That is, there is no section for male brides-to-be. When my partner and I became one for ever and ever, I acted as husband and him as spouse (but with bridal gown). We looked toward "Bride's" for help, but hark - no avail! In conclusion, "Bride's" is a discriminatory magazine. I would like to see more articles about male and transgender brides in future issues. But wonderful advertisements!

As ever,

In a world where we're barraged with the most expensive wedding planning options, Bridal Guide is a breath of fresh air. For the bride planning a wedding without unlimited resources, this title supplies all the usual and necessary wedding-planning tips and advice, but not every solution is expensive-a refreshingly low-key and realistic approach. Beyond the wedding, relationship advice and home planning are also discussed. Published six times a year, Bridal Guide includes regular features on fashion, beauty, health, and wedding planning, as well "Budget Basics" with money-saving tips, shopping guidelines, and Q&A. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Wedding Mags
The three real contenders are Bridal Guide, Bride's and Modern Bride. Bride's and Modern Bride seem to be the same magazine sometimes, and in fact are now owned by the same people. If you want something more suited to a "real bride", it would seem that Bridal Guide is your best choice.

If you have...to spend on your dress, then by all means go for Bride's magazine, but if you are like the rest of us, then Bridal Guide has, BY FAR, the best selection for you. The advice seemed to be geared for regular people trying to have a fabulous wedding, and for the right price too!

There's a wealth of information on planning the event, dealing with inlaws, Honeymoon destinations, buying the dress ... EVERYTHING you could want and more. I love this magazine. Thank you Bridal Guide.

4-0 out of 5 stars interesting and thoughtful
A friend sent me the first issue of this magazine.I didn't know what to think of it since I don't really read Cosmo, Vogue or any of the standard women's magazines on a regular basis (just sometimes on airplanes). The articles are varied and interesting relating to issues that arise in relationship and often never discussed (bank accounts, fertility etc.).I would ditch the conditioner report.. didn't really get any useful info and it was too chaotic to be even interesting. It is heavier reading than the standard Cosmo fare and would definitely make good airplane reading!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine for the thinking woman
In my experience, you can never get really intelligent information about relationships in magazines. There is a little of this and a little of that in Glamour or Ladies Home Journal (Can this marriage be saved??? Well??) But why wasn't there an "expert" magazine like Bon Appetit is for food or Business Week is for business about relationships?Tango is that expert magazine.AND it's a lot of fun to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading for the contemporary woman
Finally a magazine that tries to discuss the issues which are relevant to the all important relationship between a man and a woman without putting you to sleep. Many of you may have been tired to seeing all the magazines that are currently available for sale...a beautiful woman on the cover and an extremely superficial coverage of that so eye catching title on the cover page..makes you feel cheated if you bought the magazine or even spent the time to browse it.

Well Tango is different. Its founder Andrea Miller, started this magazine precisely because she found that there was no magazine that appealed to the intelligent woman reader and talked of the one issue that was most important to her, which was her relationship whether it be with her lover, her boyfriend, her fiance or her husband.

So what do you do with your man after you have grabbed him and start a long lasting relationship is what she and Tango set out to examine. Whether it is issues of women in the workplace or how couples manage money, how they can live together without driving each other crazy are all issues worthy of Tango and its readers..I have thoroughly enjoyed the premier issue that has a wonderful article on Desperate Housewives hunk Jamie Denton as a cover feature...very real and very not Cosmo for sure..this magazine is worth a look. ...
