5-0 out of 5 stars I love this magazine
It's funny, laid back and relevant. At first, I thought it was going to be all about dating, but I was wrong. It's full of resources and useful information. It's bold but intelligent. If you're single, then it's the best and only magazine you'll ever need to put the spark in your life. I went on a Christmas Cruise that they recommended and had a blast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet!! -- It's like being part of a club
What an awesome magazine. I didn't realize there was that much for singles to do until I got One 2 One. It's like my own social calender of events. I don't have to worry about finding a date to go with, I can just show up knowing that other singles will be there.Cool!!

Great music and movie reviews, none of the CD selections disappointed me, they tell it like it is -- The good, the bad and the ugly. They need to ease up on the chick flicks though!
What a great idea, the singles in there are classy, I even got an email back. This is my new favorite magazine ---Sweet! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Appeals to many types of music lovers
I have been subscribing to "Strings" for several years and enjoy the magazine. This last issue had a section on cajun music as well as an article featuring Joshua Bell, a world-class violinist who is teaming up with MIT to develop a series of high-tech instruments and musical toys designed to stiumlate children's interest in music.

There are usually a few pages of music (for violin) and reviews of books, music, bows, violins, etc.

There have been a few issues that did not appeal to my interests. That is the reason for 4 stars. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars TOO PRICEY
I expected more for the price that you pay!!! Yes it has interesting current info...but like 8 pages worth....not enough for $7.00 an issue. I want a 200 page magazine for that price or a lesser cost. I recommend you go to Barnes and Noble or Borders...sit down and read it and put it back. Seriously! Normally I would never suggest that but....the alternative is just a waste any way you look at it. I am a fan of the show and Jennifer Garner in general so it took a lot to down the magazine!!! Look I still gave it 3 stars...definitely more than it deserves!

3-0 out of 5 stars Alias Magazine a Surprise
Im a big fan of Alias, and when i heard they had a magazine i was really surprised. I think its kind of expensive to pay $7 for a magazine but it has interesting information, but kind of little kiddish at the same time. Still kinda cool, but they could up the writting i think. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars on point
i often read this Magazine at my Local Book Store&it truly hits home.I Play Keyboards myself&always read on what they have to say on the latest technology also Interviews with different Artists&the Sounds they are Vibing On.you can't miss with this Magazine.very detailed on the subject matter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keyboards and more
If you are a keyboard player, you probably already know about this publication. You are aware that there is no other magazine that fills this niche quite as well (although Electronic Musician comes close). You likely are a subscriber already, or you pick up an issue at the newstand every month. But anyone, keyboard player or not, who is interested in making music with technology, would be served well by checking out this magazine. "Keyboard" is almost a misnomer, actually, because, while keyboards are emphasized, there is much here regarding recording and using computers for creating music. Strange as it may sound, sometimes keyboards get short shrift in favor of coverage of software and technology. The crux of this magazine, to me, is the product review section. If an item wins a "Key Buy" designation, you know it is worth adding to your musical arsenal. It's worth saving the back issues for reference. All in all a splendid magazine for musicians. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Magazine - But...
I absolutely Love Southern Lady Magazine. I look forward to every delivery.

Here's the problem--I haven't received a copy in ages. The last one I got was Summer 2003. Help!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars best magazine
This is the best magazine on the market!!!!!!!!!! It is soothing, relaxing, inspiring, useful, decorative, helpful, and an all round good happy magazine. Everyone that I know that looks at it is impressed with it and can hardly put it down. The recipes are good. Even the ads are good. It is one that you don't want to throw away but keep forever. It is inspiring in that it gives you ideas for parties, friendships, home, food, and everyday living. It is a ladies magazine to the fullest. I wait and wait for the next one to come and then in the meantime, I read the old magazines I have.

5-0 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air
Every time I get Southern Lady, it's like springtime any part of the year. The photographs are so beautiful! It includes articles on decorating, food, fashion and stories of southern women and just a general positive appreciation of life in general. No horoscopes, male bashing, scantily clad models or errant life advice - just uplifting articles and photographs.

My absolute favorite part of the magazine are the articles about women who are entrepreneurs and fortunately, there are at least two articles like that in EVERY issue. I get so excited about that part of the magazine. If they ever drop those type articles, I will drop the magazine. But I don't think they will because I think those women make the magazine special and set it apart... especially because the articles do not mention any of the financial gain of the women, just their love of doing what they do.

It is so wonderful and inspiring to read about others who got creative and decided to do something for others, their families and themselves. I think the magazine's premise is not about being from the south, but is about enjoying the beauty and joy of life that can be found in the south.

5-0 out of 5 stars All Things Lovely and Feminine
Ephemeral visions of Royal Albert pink rose-patterned teacups, antique Spode teapots, vintage lace, and antiquarian books; snippets from my past four trips to England and France appear fresh in my mind with each issue I receive in the mail. Catering to the feminine lady who dances to a softer beat; who enjoys being a woman and all that that entails, this magazine is a respite of pure bliss. I often save my still-unopened newest issue for over a week until I can find that perfect little island of quiet time and alone-ness.....perhaps with a silver tea tray, a gathering of storm clouds outside the French door, a pretty needlepoint pillow, delectable candles on my pretty table. "Southern Living" is a jewel, a rare find today.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful magazine
My stepmother gave me a gift subscription to this magazine, and I have since done the same for my friends. It is a wonderful magazine that covers a variety of topics and also various races of Southern ladies. It has beautiful photographs and ideas and wonderful recipes. Once you receive it, you won't want to discontinue the subscription! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for people serious about fingerstyle
A music teacher of mine suggested this magazine when I got interested in some more advanced fingerstyle method. The music selections in each issue are from some of the best known fingerstyle guitarists on the planet. Selections range for Irish/celtic jigs to flamenco to classical to jazz. If you really want to expand your skill and knowledge of the guitar invest in this magazine.

The only downside is that most of the music is pretty difficult to play. Some of the more difficult selections have taken me several months of daily practice to be able to play them correctly and I've been playing for over ten years. But overall Fingerstyle Guitar is an excellent addition to a serious guitar player's collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not for every guitarist
I've just gotten my last issue of my 6-issue subscription, and I think I'll let it run out without renewal. Not because I didn't enjoy the magazine, but because I now have enough music to learn for the next year, and I don't need anymore.

The articles aren't that interesting, what sets this magazine apart is the wide range of music and genres that are included, and the accompanying recordings, which are really nice, since it gives you a "feel" for the subject matter that you can't get otherwise.

Most of it is fairly advanced though, and certainly not a magazine for the beginner. On average, there's about one song per issue that I can play. Beginners should look elsewhere.

I have noticed a few errors in their transcriptions. Sometimes it's a number on the wrong line of tab, sometimes it's a whole measure that's erroneously duplicated. Sometimes it's written a little odd, and can be difficult to read quickly (eg. sometimes the strong beat isn't made to stand out from the others).

It's expensive, but it's worth the price. It will probably cost you the same to buy a fingerstyle book with the same amount of music, but without the recordings.

In conclusion, it's worth a try. Pick up an issue at the stand and try it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for intermediate to advanced, not for begginner
The best part of this magazine is the wonderful music that comes with the CD. Its actually worth the subscription to just get the CD. It is first-class fingerpicking music.

However, the music that they transcribe is quite advanced, I would find it hard to believe that anyone but a professional could play most of the transcriptions in the magazine. They have been making a move towards some more intermediate music, there is maybe a song every other issue that is within my grasp.
However, there is some value in learning parts of songs that you can struggle to get.

I have been a subscriber for about 4 years.

2-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE THE PAIZO PUBLISHING
I come from Europe. I learned that if you subscribe to Dungeon from Paizo, you take an extra adventure. Well, I have subscribed myself in August 2003, they charged my credit card $100 (thats what they charge the Europian readers) and they have send me nothing. I want to notice that I have subscribed to Paizo and not to Amazon.com. I have send many emails to them, but they don't reply at all. Then I have learned that they have done this to many other people around the world. So, I have lost my money, but at least I want to tell all of you to be careful, if you subscribe to Paizo's magazines.

2-0 out of 5 stars Sorry, Dungeon
In the past, during second edition AD&D's publication or during the first year of third edition D&D, I would have given this product a solid five stars, never questioning if that was the right amount of stars or if it was too high. However, within the last year or so, Dungeon was sold by WoTC and bought by a company that appears determined to prevent the magazine from being useful. They have combined it with Polyhedron magazine which is either blatently useless to me, as a DM for third edition D&D, or appears to be a Dragon-lite.

They decided to go to a monthly publication, and once I would have celebrated over this; however, with their new publication schedule it appears that on their old bimonthly schedule they actually produced more adventures (and longer ones) than their combined two-month output nowadays. I bought one magazine, in the last year, which contained only one adventure. I was then informed inside the magazine that those who subscribed had gotten two adventures. Thanks for making sure those of us who choose to support our local gaming and comic book stores get punished, Dungeon.

I know that I am not the only dissatisfied customer as so many of their mail messages for a few months were from people who had the same complaints I do. They appear not to care about these complaints which were raised repeatedly. I have basically given up on this product, though I will occasionally give it a buy to determine if I should go back to picking it up regularly.

What is truly strange is that Dragon, alternatively, appears to have become a much better product within the last year. If you have the money to spare, I'd recommend picking up Dragon magazine rather than Dungeon.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Sure If Adventures Are Play Tested Before Publication
I used to get Dungeon mag, but found that many published adventures was either too easy or too advanced for suggested player charecter levels. Of course it is not hard to figure out what levels is more apprpriate for the adventure, but the publishers should require the material that they published to be play tested first and maybe pre-generated characters that was used for play testing (some games allow for alot of magic and magic items while others do not and that also determines the levels needed to play an adventure). I give 3 stars as this downfall can be worked around, but it is not worthy of me giving a full 5 stars to because of what I said above.

5-0 out of 5 stars For every DM
Dungeon magazine is full of all kinds of usefull information and module ideas. Even if you don't end up using one of the published adventures word for word, it is still a useful resource for ideas. You can find all kinds of innovative traps and encounters within the pages that will challenge whatever level players you may toss them at. I highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Very Kewl
I am not a big fan of pre published adventures, however I have always picked up a copy once in awhile incase I have DM's block. Now I have especially gotten them because of the Polyhedron Mag on the flipside of Dungeon. Which have been really really kewl. To date my favorate have been a Pulp Heroes rules, the preview of D20 Modern Shadow Chasers, and Mecha Crusade. Basically Polyhedron every two months brings you a new d20 setting or mini-game of some sort, most of which have been fairly good. It really gives more bang for your Dungeon buck, because you can use the new rules for ideas for your D&D game, or a new campaign entirely. Kewl stuff. The adventures in Dungeon are top notch, and especially with the new 3rd Edition adventures all have been pretty good. To be honest, I personally would rather have a subscription to Dungeon, than Dragon magizine... but you can't do wrong with both! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Still Worth Reading
As a previous reviewer said, Soap Opera Weekly lost some of its bite when its original editor was fired. It used to be more serious in its presentation of the soap world and more critical. That said, I still think it's worth a read if only to catch up on what's going on both on and behind the screen. I don't think someone really interested in finding out what's happening in the soap world can totally ignore it. Supplement this with Soap Opera Digest and you've pretty much got all the news you need to know about what's happening in the daytime world of television.

4-0 out of 5 stars Up Close With Soaps: From "Passions" to "General Hospital"
I'm a big fan of NBC's "Passions" and Soap Opera Weekly has done a great job pitching Jim Reilly's wacky and wonderful soap from its infancy in 1999 to its present day status as one of the most unique soaps on the air.
"Soap Opera Weekly" also offers up-to-date sneak peeks, who's in, who's out plus great profiles and well versed critiques of some of daytime's best performers. The price is also right. No matter what soap you watch, SOD has plenty of info to offer. Lastly, their covers are terrific. I buy it as often as I can.

1-0 out of 5 stars How the mighty have fallen.
I am a disillusioned former subscriber to Soap Opera Weekly. After about seven years of receiving this magazine every week in the mail, it finally got too bad to be worth my time and money.

In the beginning, Weekly was a dream, something that should have been read whether or not one actually watched soap operas. Mimi Torchin, former editor, and columnist Marlena Delacroix were strong and opinionated women, who you might not always agree with but who were certainly intelligent.

The magazine went downhill almost immediately after Torchin was fired. Journalistic mistakes, lame opinions and horrible production led to the mag's downfall, plus a new focus on primetime dramas (all of which you can get, much better, from magazines like TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly).

I gave them a year to see if I would renew, and the only qualm I had about cancelling was the fact that I had been a subscriber for so long.

Used to be, SPW (as it preferred to be abbreviated), if it was not the first to report a daytime drama coming or going, was the one to cover it the best.

Today, SOW (as it deserves to be abbreviated) is at the bottom of the magazine shelf. Hooked on soaps? Go to Soap Opera Digest, go online, go somewhere where you will be respected as a reader and a viewer.

4-0 out of 5 stars All My Soaps
I really enjoy reading this magaizine. It is not compliled with a number of pages that will take a while to read through to get to what I am searching for. I enjoy that it is light weight and I can carry it anywhere. I also enjoy that it is less expensive and I can get most of the information I am interested in without buying a small book, as the other magazines in your competion. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good But Definitely Not The Best
After I had drifted away from Spider-Man for a few years, I decided to check in on Spidey in spring of 2002. Simply put, I was blown away.

I had always enjoyed Romita Jr.'s artwork, but it seemed so much better on the new glossy pages, coupled with Kemp's fantastic colors and Hanna's great inks. The artwork perfectly matched the intense storylines; and Romita Jr. has become my favorite comic artist.

J. Michael Straczynski's writing also amazed me. He came in and breathed new life into Spider-Man. The stories seemed fresh and new in a series that had grown stagnant in the nineties. His narrative added an intensity in the first storyline "Coming Home" that hadn't been in Spider-Man for a long time. Also one of the creative teams' lasting issues is the black cover 9/11 issue which was Straczynski's best as well as Romita Jr's finest moment.

I got a subscription for two years; some of the storylines were good but most were not very good. In the two years I read the books, only one traditional villian appeared (Doc Ock), and all of the rest were mythical/supernatural baddies after Spidey; the storylines also revolved around totemistic/supernatural plotlines that Spider-Man became involved in. Also, much of the dialogue was very cornball and most of the jokes were lame, but the art remained consistently good throughout the stories (some of the best in comics really).

Romita Jr recently left the series and I let my subscription run out. While I'm sure the art will be very good by other artists, the storys weren't working for me. I would rate this title more of a 3.5 than a 4 due to the writing that started off very good but lost momentum later on.

Some titles that remain consistently good over the years are "Ultimate Spider-Man" (for a fun, younger take on the character) and "Daredevil" (for a serious, mature superhero book).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Amazing but decidedly Postmodern Spider-Man
I just started reading "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" again this year. I decided to do a unit on comic books for my Popular Culture class and since the Spider-Man movie was a summer blockbuster with legs (pick a number as to how many) I thought focusing on the web-head would be shrewd and productive. So the cherubs had to reading Volume 1 of "The Essential Spider-Man," which reprinted his origin issue and the first twenty issues of what is now Volume 2 of the comic book. On the basis of this they were to come up with a model of elements you usually find in a Spider-Man comic book. They then had to apply that model to a current issues of either "The Amazing Spider-Man" or "Peter Parker: Spider-Man." What has remained the same and what has changed over the course of almost forty years and 486 issues is rather interesting.

In the intervening years I have discovered that Peter Parker is "still" married to Mary Jane, but they are currently separated. Peter is now a teacher, which is certainly more ambitious than being a news photographer, but I do worry that super villains might be running around during school hours. In the biggest pair of changes Aunt May is now alive again (gasp!) and she knows that Peter is Spider-Man (GASP!) However, the essentially element of Spider-Man as the world's unluckiest superhero remains constant. No good deed goes unpublished. The new sub-text, that his secret identity is shared and causes an entirely new set of interpersonal problems than when he was making a concerted effort to conceal who he was from the people he loves, adds an entirely new level of depth to the comic book today.

The biggest complaint my students had was that in the contemporary economic world of comic books very rarely is a single issue self-contained, so that when they picked up their random issue it was either the end of a multi-part story or the beginning of the next one. The different in approach was quite key to them in terms of their lack of enthusiasm for the current comics. However, one of the inherent problems of superhero comic books is having the hero fight a different super villain every single issue and the multi-issue approach allows for more of an epic feel to the what is going on.

The comic book is currently scripted by J. Michael Straczynski, drawn by John Romita, Jr., and inked by Scott Hanna. The current version of "The Amazing Spider-Man" can be considered as postmodern not simply because it is Volume 2, but because it is decidedly self-referential. This is true not only in a blatantly self-promoting ways (unveiled references to what a "Spider-Man" movie would be like), but in an appropriate historical way. A recent issue (#45/#486) has Spider-Man concluding a battle with Doctor Octopus and being buried under a pile of rubble; the scene recalls what I consider the greatest of the Stan Lee-Steve Ditko stories which concluded in issue #33 "The Final Chapter" with Spider-Man trapped under tons of fallen steel. Just like the film, which invoked specific cover shots, such as John Romita, Sr.'s first issue #39, this is a comic book that is aware of itself as a comic book and of its history as a comic book.

The artwork by Romita shows a bit more flair than what we were used to from his father, although Sr. is still second only to Gene Colan in drawing the women of Spider-Man's world. Of course, by the time you read this all of these people could be long gone, but this is one of the flagship comics of the Marvel line, even more so today. At its best, Spider-Man can be as good as suepr hero comic books can get. Of course, now I have to track down back issues so I have a fuller understanding of what all is going on, but collecting things and tracking them down is part of the fun. Besides, we are but a year away from issue #500. ... Read more

Can you please send me a bunch of pics of up-do hairstyles for a formal party. Thanks!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for choosing a new style
This is one of the many different magazines that you can find at discount or grocery stores with lots of hairstyle pictures. This particular magazine is about 60% color pictures. At least the issues I've bought were. This is something you would buy if you wanted a new hairstyle that would involve a new cut. A majority of the styles in these magazines are shoulder length styles and above. This is a nice item to have in a hair salon for clients to get ideas while they wait. Since this magazine is pictures of Celebrities you can also use it to keep track of their hairstyle changes.

5-0 out of 5 stars best horror magazine ever!
Fangoria always has and always will be the greatest horror magazine around. Terrific on the set previews of the latest films, retrospectives on classic films ,dvd reviews and always dependable for bloody photo's from your favorite movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Above and beyond: 10 Stars in my book!
I don't have a subscription, and I probably never will. So, why am I writing a positive review about a magazine I am not willing to get a subscription to? Well, the fact is, I prefer going to my local bookstore and picking up a nice fresh copy of Fangoria, minus the mailing tag on the front cover. It seems like an anal decision, but, to me, I have to have a magazine that is flawless in it's appearance, so that I can read it once over, utilize it for future information and place it in a protective magazine cover to store in with my collection.

It's been years since I first picked up my first copy of Fangoria, lying my trust in this fantastic magazine which brings to me reviews, upcoming film information and loads of information to add to my film-knowledge database. Over the years, I have seen up-and-coming individuals in the horror film genre make (and occasionally break) a name for themselves.

It is definately true that horror is the genre which appeals to the greatest audience out of all genres. People WANT to be scared, they want to see inside the mind of a serial killer, they want to watch a long-dead family member rise from the grave to seek out revenge for their murder. Who can argue against this fact? No one! Sure, it's a social generalization, and there are some people who don't watch any horror films, but, when it comes down to it, people seek out extreme emotions, and fear is one of the most sought after out of them all. In turn, Fangoria gives us the information we need to seek out the mainstream horror films, such as "Nightmare on Elmstreet" and "Halloween", but it also supplies us with indie films like "Donnie Darko" and "Devil's Backbone".

While working at Suncoast Motion Picture, I would OFTEN use Fangoria to seek out specific films to stock in my store and recommend to devoted customers. I would collect film after film, myself, and have created a library of horror films that many would be envious of. Have you ever seen "Devil's Backbone" or "Flesh for the Beast"? Probably because you haven't read about them in the best horror magazine availble on the market today.

Fangoria is for the horror lover, as well as those seeking added information on the genre which tops them all!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE horror movie magazine for the ages.
I grew up reading Fangoria, when I could sneak it past my parents, that is. Fangoria Magazine has a total respect for the genere of horror that comes shinning through with every article. Now you are not always going to agree with everything they say, but you can always expect them to be honest. When a horror icon is not performing up to snuff, like Stephen King or John Carpenter, they will be the first to point out the errors and flaws. Fangoria also has the Chainsaw Awards, where you can mail in your vote for best horror movie, actor, ect, and you can also submit a name for Horror Hall of Fame (my guy has yet to win it). They also spot light horror films that would normaly fly under the radar of most people; like the Japanese and Italian horrors (wow, they can make some splatter flicks), and more independent films that wouldn't be showing at the mainstream theater. And they have pictures. All the blood and guts you can imagine in beautiful color (though they have become more tame compared to what it was in the '80s). This is just a great magazine to have if your a horror fan, I whole heartedly recomend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars To Fang Or Not To Fang...
Around my neck of the woods, we don't have a high supply of horror genre magazines, so when you see one, you'd better grab it.
While I was at the store doing my weekly shopping the other day, I was strolling down the magazine isle to see what they had. Low and behold they had a Fangoria! There was only one, so I just HAD to buy it. After all, I had heard so much about this magazine, and with that, I dropped it in my cart, and thought, if I liked it, I would shell out the bucks to sign up for a subscription.

No!

I was highly disappointed. It was the worst investment I have ever made. I know, I know, many of you are going to completely disagree with me. That is ok. Really. I keep telling myself, maybe I just got a weak issue, maybe it really doesn't suck this bad. Maybe I'm just to loyal to our Canadian made Rue Morgue mag. None the les I read it....

*yawn*

Really it bored me to death. I dislike their layout, you don't get much for you buck. This magazine leaves me with the feeling that there is much chaos and disorder in this office. They don't really suck you in, grab you and hold your attention in my opinion. The only section that I DID like was the "Video Chopping List". I urge you, if you have never purchased this mag before, leaf through it before you buy it. The decision is totally up to you whether you purchase it or not, but I'm sticking to my Rue!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad Writing Prevails
Filter magazine covers good bands (for the most part) and sometimes has nice photos and presentation, but the writing is often beyond pretentious, and often has more to do with the writer than the actual bands they are interviewing. For example, they had an interview with Robin Guthrie from the Cocteau Twins, but first there was a whole long intro in which the writer explained how he got laid once to a Cocteau Twins album - who cares. Then they had an article on Death Cab for Cutie in which half the article consisted of the writer expressing his jealousy that Death Cab were getting laid when he wasn't. Another article on Doves was more concerned with the Hacienda club in Manchester than the band, just because they played there once and the writer happened to go there once. Filter once interviewed Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, arguably one of the best songwriters of his generation, and actually asked him if he'd ever date Winona Ryder - how insulting. For an article on Hot Hot Heat they devoted a whole page to interviewing the musical director of LA's KROQ radio station about why they played Hot Hot Heat, when maybe a paragraph would have sufficed. For a recent cover story the put The Strokes and Lou Reed in a room together. Sounds great, right? Unfortunately, they were hardly any quotes from either The Strokes or Lou Reed. Most of the article consisted of the author's pretentious musings on what the meeting of the two artists meant and so forth. Most of the reviews are positive, and that's because Filter is also a marketing company that's paid by the labels of the very artists that they review. I'm not saying that there aren't good things to be found in this magazine. I'd certainly rather read it than Spin, Rolling Stone or Alternative Press. But then there are definitely other music magazines I'd rather read, like Mojo and especially Under the Radar. Filter's motto is "Good Music Will Prevail." It's too bad that in the pages of the magazine bad writing prevails.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pick it up, love it. Read about what music is today.
Of all the glossy, coffee table-ready music magazines out there, this is by far the best. A little thinner than say a Q or Spin, but that's good since there are less annoying advertisements taking up half of the magazine. The articles are honest and intelligent, without taking things too seriously. The bands they choose to review are also along the same lines, and are often reviewed before to mass media hype or superstardom. But they do review the more established music darlings like Radiohead and David Bowie, but in a way that's fresh and not they same article you've read 5 times before in other glossies. So get your artists while they're young and apreciate the ones that have been around the block a few times a whole lot better.
If you get a music magazine subscription this year, get Filter. I swear you won't be dissapointed. They're also fairly new, so please support newbie in the world of mass mosters like Rollingstone and Spin. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Teen Magazine Ever!
POPSTAR! has been my favorite magazine for a long time because in every single issue, I end up finding pictures and articles on every star that I am interested in, and also some newcomers. They always have good words and pictures on Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, Ashton Kutcher, Chad Michael Murray, Justin Timberlake, Raven, Jessica Simpson, Avril Lavigne, Aaron Carter, Britney Spears, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Adam Brody, Olsen Twins, Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Orlando Bloom, Usher, Harry Potter cast...I could go on and on and on. My room is half devoted to their cool pinups and posters. They have good fashion stuff, funny pictures, fun games...big shout-out to my aunt for subscribing me four years ago. I just love this magazine. I don't like the other celebrity magazines because they're more racy and have less "stuff" LOL. I would say this is my #1 favorite magazine. I also like COSMOGIRL! and I sort of like GL. Thank you for the opportunity to express myself. If you're reading this, Chad, you rock.

5-0 out of 5 stars STAR STRUCK!
Okay, I don't care if you are a guy or a girl you will all love this magazine! I don't care what the others say! This does have life stories (embarrassing moments and things like that) They even include the stars in those. Also they have fasion tips and horoscopes (the horoscopes are more for the girls though). Also they give you advice on great CDs and movie that are out there! You learn all about what the star are up to and there are tons of cool contests. I really love all the pictures and posters. I also love that they talk about stars that aren't the biggest names yet like Stevie Brock, Chris Trousdale, Jesse McCartney, and Greg Raposo(just to name a few!) This magazine has it all and I absoulutly love it! I have NEVER missed an issue!

5-0 out of 5 stars YEAH!!!! ITS THE BEST!!!!
i love pop star it has really good picks and always has posters of the hottest boy stars RANR!

5-0 out of 5 stars Popstar Magazine a plus for me!!
Okay, I've read most of the reviews and okay, they don't like it, they do like it, they don't like, they do, it's their opion, not yours!! And this is my opinion, I like it!! In the magazine, you get the latest and well kinda greatest info on your favorite popstars such as: Avril, Simple Plan, Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson, Good Charlotte, Jessica Simpson and sooo much more!! The March 2004 issue, I didn't really like because, there's not enough DUFF!! WE WANT DUFF, WE WANT DUFF!! And for the people that doesn't like Hilary Duff, then well excuse me for liking her gosh!! Kiss my butt!! HAHAHAHA, just kiddin' about kissin. In each issue you'll recieve 4 great posters of your fave celebs/popstars. I like that part, and oh there's a ton of contests you can enter and win the greatest stuff, like autograph pictures, and cool fan stuff. I'm not the kind of contest entering person, but they look really awesome. About the posters, well there's actually more than 4 in the issue I got, and who knows about the next!! I think Popstar Magazine is such a cool one. Oh and I think Justin and Britney are kinda nasty!! No offense to their fans!! :) When you look through the sections of this magazine you'll see the: Pinups and Posters section, Staples section (have no clue what that ment though), Gossip section, Cover section, Movies section, Music section, TV section, Fasion & Beauty section, and last but not least LOL!! (meaning:hahahahahaha, laugh out loud) I hope my review helped you with your decision of this magazine. I feel sorry if you don't check it out. I recommend get it at Barnes and Nobles or Borders!! They have a huge selections of great magazines. Oh, so if you buy a magazine there, I think it would be like 4.99 for one. Subscriptions: 19.99 (the usual) Happy reading!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very average
Ok, the secret is out... I'm a closet soap opera fan. I watch As The World Turns and Guiding Light regularly, and occasionally All My Children. This magazine is ideal for someone who's a casual viewer and only follows one network. The writing is that great, although it isn't bad, per se. It's just very elementary. Other magazines about soaps have more intelligent critiques of acting and stories. The "spoilers" aren't as good as in other magazines, either, and the recaps aren't as up to date as in SOD or SPW. Overall, for what it costs, I'd say just get Soap Opera Digest or Soap Opera Weekly. It's a bit better than Soap Opera Update, though, which is why I gave it 2 stars as opposed to 1. ... Read more
