This magazine has changed from a quarterly journal to a yearbook with a weekly e-mail newsletter including problems and commented games.

Best Paintball Magazine
This is the best paintball magazine. You want strategy, you got it. You want new equipment, you got it. You want competition coverage, you got it. Even the extensive ads are efficient and helpful (the advertisers know the buyers in APG are more interested in substance than glitz). If you only get one paintball magazine, this is the one to get. With at least twice as much good stuff per issue, it is better than any of the others.

From newbie to seasoned player
There are articles in this magazine for everyones skill level. It has great photos and well written articles that target both increasing your knowledge and promoting safety. It a "guys that play paint ball writing about paint ball magazine" that really captures it's target audience without alienating those rare female players. At times the amount of ads are a bit much but if you haven't bought your dream gun yet, this magazine will keep you up to date on what's out there!

Why This Mag Is AWESOME!!
This magazine is the best of all paintball mags because it keeps you updated with everything and has a lot of more featured than a regular paintball magazine would have.

Action Pursuit Games Magazine
There were excessive amounts of advertisements, with only very few articles or stories. Most of the stories anyway depicted the high-end paintball markers which most of the average players cannot afford and only dream about. Also, other stories, month after month, just remind us that we should play safe and be nice to newbies. Others just provide basic tips which most players pick up, understand and practice with regular trips to their paintball field. Basically this is [$$] to look at companies advertisements, read the basic tips that you already practice, and annoy you with boring reminders of wearing your mask, keeping your barrel bag on and respecting newbies

A battle
It's a tough battle between Official Playstation Magazine and PSM. Even though OPM has a demo disc which each issure, PSM still manages to force it's way to the top. Why? I'll tell you why. The staff, the quality of the reviews and previews, and their yearly, very good E3 coverage. Also, PSM almost always get to preview the best games first. If it's hot, expect PSM to have plenty of screenshots and coverage.
There is one complaint I have with PSM. They should throw some extras into the mix like they use to. Such as Memory Card stickers. I remember the famed Playstation 1 lid stickers they'd have. I've been a subscriber since issue 1 and PSM has still yet to lose it's flair. Sadly, some of the older staff members are gone.
Still, PSM is really the worlds best unofficial Playstation 2 magazine.

Losing it's "stuff"
I've been a subscriber since it's first issue, and I really used to love this magazine, I really did. That could have been because I was a lot younger, but who knows. It used to be written by a witty, hilarious staff (few of which remain), and I always used to look forward to getting it.

That said, lately it has been losing it. The magazine, to me, is just no longer that good. The magazines are thinner, less exciting, and overall, they just aren't as good as they used to be.

If you want a gaming magazine, look towards Electronic Gaming Monthly. It's a much better choice, and covers just as much PS2 information as this magazine.

Eh.
Well they seem to have a good staff. First off though, they're reviews are in the front, with the previews later on, so that's not good. But, they're reviews are thouroughly well written. And usually pretty good, even though they hardly ever have their own staff write them. Anyway, I think it's alright. They're usually not too thin. They did start putting DVD's in the newstand copies recently, but they seem to have stopped doing that. For now I hope. But you could do worse with this here magazine.

Truly the Best Magazine EVER!
PSM isn't only a great reference, but it is better then really mostly any magazine. Other magazine's don't have the depth that PSM does.
If you have a PlayStation 2, PSM is right for you. It is very popular but where I'm from, you don't see it around.
But if you own a PlayStation 2 and you want to stay on track with games, new PS2 products and enjoy a magazine, get the greatest PS2 magazine around, PSM!!!

Good Reference
This is one of several trade journals that I use to keep up with the Playstation 2 world. I find it a good, stable reference that does the best job of covering hardware and lesser games, and a typical job with the big releases. Despite very heavy dependency on advertising, they manage to be fairly even handed in their rating philosophy.

Their writing is good, but the graphic design work makes the pages a bit hard to read - they carry the Gen X hyper active page layout to an extreme. If you read like I do, there is a tremendous temptation to simply scan the text, look at the pictures, and then check the ratings. Even though the writing usually has good information in it.

I think it's best in this field to read more than one monthly. Using PSM and some of the others I've looked means fewer dollars wasted. And games aren't cheap!! ... Read more
