Get over yourselves!
Oh, please! People don't read OUT for in-depth academic diatribes. What part of "it's a fashion magazine" don't you people understand? It is a fun fashion/arts/entertainment mag. As far as I know, their readership is predominantly male, hence the lack of tons of lesbian content. But at least there are indeed articles about/by dykes instead of in magazines like Genre or Instinct. And maybe the reason why there are straight folk in it who are gay-friendly rather than a whole magazine of 100% bonafide homos is because half the gays in Hollywood don't have the balls to come out! Hello, Sean Hayes! I love OUT. I love Entertainment Weekly too. And US Weekly. Don't expect a literary journal from a pop culture magazine. Or better, go start your own, better rag!

It's definitely different
Although the magazine is fluffier and more fashion-driven than the Out Magazine of yore, it still has some interesting news-oriented articles. Recent examples include articles on straight employees at gay organizations, lesbian co-parenting and a cruise line for gay people with vision impairment.

OUT has NO content
What's in OUT magazine? A whole lot of nothing, that's what! The "articles," if you want to call them that, are a waste of time. The models are the same-old, same-old. Why does this magazine even exist? I can't wait for my subscription to run out, so the vacuousness can end.

i wish
I wish this magazine talked more about issues and conflicts. Instead it focuses on home decor and fashion. I need information, not fluff.

OUT is a great fashion/entertainment mag
It's true. OUT is a fashion and entertainment magazine (not news), and it's written mostly for gay men--but because that's also mostly who buys it. But the magazine has gotten more diverse. There's definitely lesbian content in every issue, and there's more multiracial and transgender content than ever before, too (and more than in most LGBT publications). The idea that one magazine should be everything to the entire LGBT community is ridiculous--it's impossible. But at least OUT is head-and-shoulders above INSTINCT and GENRE in terms of story depth, intellect, and inclusiveness. Buy it for the writing, the opinions. The beefcake is just bonus! ... Read more

You've got to check out this magazine!
This magazine is absolutely incredible. It is funny, informative, and best of all, doesn't take itself so seriously. You get a very fresh and hip writing style that keeps you entertained from cover to cover. Nothing at all like it's competitors. You just have to try it for yourself.

If not for the magazine...for the ads.
I just got my first issue of Instinct Magazine and it is awesome. Great front covers. If not to just look for the articles in the magazine, I enjoy the pictures and the ads.[] There's not been one issue that I bought, that wasn't good. By it now!

Absolutely THE best gay magazine I have ever read. It is consistently funny and irreverent. For the gay guy who can handle being made fun of, once in awhile. I especially reccomend it for younger readers.

Lacking women of color......
Overall Curve is a great magazine and i've been reading it for 5 years now. Only problem I have with it is, it does not really represent the african american lesbian, if it did, I would then, subscribe to it.

WELL WORTH READING
If you're lesbian you are probably already aware that it can be difficult to receive news and information pertaining directly to you from other periodicals. This magazine succeeds in covering this void that is often ignored by other media publications. CURVE delivers news, entertainment, human interest, and travel features focusing exclusively on the lesbian community. I have read this magazine for many years and have found it to be an invaluable resource. With a conscious effort to include racial, class, and ability differences I believe CURVE appeals to virtually every lesbian audience. It is mailed in a black wrapper to protect privacy (for those who are concerned). Despite my praises there are downfalls. Issues are not published every month and the magazine's short length can be a disappointment. But regardless, I continue to subscribe to CURVE because I feel it is well worth reading. ... Read more

GENRE is the best gay magazine in the US
Genre recently changed its logo and its editors. As a result, the magazine has improved 110%! Really interesting celebrity stories, a good mix of CD, movie and book reviews, lots of home product stuff, etc. The covers are HOT too. All in all, this magazine far surpasses OUT or Instinct as the only sophisticated, smart choice for gay male readers.

I'm letting my subscription run out
The quality was never that good. It's always been a fluff magazine. Now, it has become worse! Irreverent information and gratuitiously half-dressed young men fill up this magazine. The articles are obviously written by amateurs and cover topics that NO ONE cares about. I'm not being facetious. I'm expressing my feelings on how the quality (or lack of) has decresed even further as the years have progressed.

Rarely have I ever seen such a display of total superficiality and useless verbiage. A total waste of money.

Niche magazine that is too generic to be good
Genre just isn't anything special. It is not too unlike GQ or Vanity Fair to be able to call itself a niche magazine. It seems to be trying to go for the same audience that XY magazine does, but not as well. Is it intending to be informative and probing or just informative and fluffy?

It is typical of any magazine out there though - FULL OF ADVERTISEMENTS! It may be the adverts that make this mag different from some others, because they tend toward being gay male related/targeted.

It would be great to see a magazine of this nature actually do some good editorial work critical of the community rather than just pander to it. It would be nice to see a sporting section (not all [gays] are sissies, you know) and a home section that doesn't assume that every [gay] is a millionaire. How about an ongoing section on how to successfully meet other guys OUTSIDE of the bar scene.

I've had previous subscriptions to this magazine and I have to say that its most entertaining in many respects. The fiction keeps you reading, guy's first times are always interesting, the interviews are informative...oh, and then there's the hot guys (all perfectly legal) showing all their worth. A great mag for anyone that can appreciate the beauty that is the young man.

To the point
Having seen this magazine every once in a while, I was intrigued to take a look, and recnetly purchased an issue to to sample. The magazine does not dissapoint. Most of the men aren't models, but built fairly nicely, and the magazine is unafraid to have hairy men.

With some gay erotic tales, ads for gay toys, books, movies, and services, there's not much I don't like about the magazine. It's right to the point, every page has a man, or some part of man on it, so you won't get bored, even with many of the articles.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Breathtaking......
This is by far the best magazine I've ever seen! I can't wait from one month to the next month's issue. The models are incredible (edible)! Where do they find all these good looking specimens??? I will be a LIFETIME subscriber......

NOT TOO BAD
I was very hesitant about ordering this magazine. I will also admit that I was impatient for the first issue to arrive.
After glancing through it I found one thing about this magazine: it is clean enough and has very little explicit material (except for the gay movie reviews).
This is a magazine that has very handsome and well built men showcased within. The articles are moot because you are looking at the pics. But thumbs up for making the pictures very clean and shown in a tasteful manor (similar to Playboy-former subscriber).
Most of the guys look like everyday members of the male species (sans the overly muscled & chissled guys).
I would highly suggest to anyone (specifically men) who appreciates the male form to purchase this magazine.

It delivers what it promises
With the magazine's name self-explanatory, the reader gets what the title says. And the "Men" here are among the best to be found anywhere. Whatever the reader's taste (no pun), he or she will find a buffet (if only) of guys that exist only in erotic dreams, from the slim and svelte to the hunky and hairy, and all are beautifully endowed! In addition to its breath-taking glossy spreads (literally!), "Men" offers homoerotic fiction, interviews with some of gay life's prominent figures and leaders, websites for the grown-up toys on anyone's shopping list and boundless video referral sites. But the cornerstone of "Men's" strength is, of course, its men, and don't be surprised to find them a part of some erotic fantasy during a two-way or even if you're going solo. Not the "Weekly Reader" of school days!
A subscription to "Unzipped" isn't wasted. Not only does the magazine, the definitive publication of gay news, offer lavish and sexually stimulating photo layouts (solo and couples), it is Playboy-esque in providing interviews with prominent gay leaders and entertainers and mainstream articles with a bend toward whatever the subject and its relationship to life as a gay man. Further, there are features about gay websites and where to get just about anything a gay person (or a daring married traditional couple) could want, from videos to personals to the toys the big boys play with. But the magazine's cornerstone is its pictorials, usually of almost-always great-looking guys with bods that send the libido (and certain body attachments) into overdrive, and both the solo and couple layouts leave nothing to the imagination. Beyond those blistering layouts that seldom (if ever) disappoint, though, the magazine has everything else, and the one-year subscription rate for this monthly publication is well worth it.
