Taking Control of Your Own Health
In 1996, I was diagnosed with Rhuematoid Arthritis (RA)...and was given a grim prognosis...being told that I would be in a wheelchair by the year 2000. Well, it is almost 2004, and I am still walking on my own two legs with no assistance.

It is up to an individual to take control of their own health care. Let's face it. You can see 4 doctors, and you will get 4 different opinions. You...and you alone...knows what your body is feeling; how it responds to certain exercises and medications; and what your limitations are.

"Arthritis Self-Management" keeps you informed on the newest information; provides insight in what to expect from the disease (as well as how to cope with it); and it is well written. I strongly recommend it to anyone suffering from any form of arthritis. Nutrition, a healthy weight, the correct medication, and the proper exercise is essential to winning the war...one battle at a time. Please, take control of your own destiny... and keep on moving... Deal with each new pain as it occurs...and soon you will find the "old pains" are not nearly as bad as you first thought. ...and remember, every morning you wake up hurting, thank the Lord that you have the joy of living another day... I placed this order in December and still have not received the magazine. I have contacted Amazon three times about it and have not gotten any help. I would be extremely wary of ordering Shape en Espanol thru this company.

It WAS good...
I frequently thumbed through this magazine and purchased a few issues here and there. Quite recently I found myself making more and more purchases, until I started concidering subscribing...until the most recent issue that is.

It appears they've decided to change the content and feel of the magazine. Originally, the magaine had brief but informative articles, a large number of workouts, with great detailed photos to demonstrate the workout, and the magazine was filled with motivational photographs. These aspects made this magazine stand out, and made it a better buy than Men's Health which is full of long, drawn out, rehashed articles on sex, food, and clothes. Which brings us to where the magazine is going now. Instead of to the point articles and imagery, they're printing long winded articles, and reduced the images to a minimum (size and number). The images now are of scrawnier guys with no motivating elments to them what-so-ever.

Sure, I know some felt the original layout may have been somewhat geared toward a homosexual crowd (numerous images of muscular men in small swimsuits), but for those of us who aren't homophobic, and want a to the point magazine that will motivate, it was great. And now, it appears to be just mimicking the bland, every-issue-is-the-same-as-the-last layout of Men's Health. How unfortunate. ... Read more
