Breathtaking Photography
The Golfer Magazine is one of the most beautiful publications out there I believe. Their photo essays are outstanding, dramatic and breathtaking. The last several issues have featured dramatic vista of holes from New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii to name a few. I think they have them online as well at www.thegolfermag.com Although they do not write on how to fix your slice like Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and the other magazines which in my opinion are becoming a little boring, The Golfer writes about how to live the game of golf to the fullest. They write about the new exciting exotic, luxurious destinations. They not only tell you where to go, but where to dine and stay while you're there and inform you of other exciting things to do like jet boating, fly-fishing or different wineries to visit. I highly recommend The Golfer Magazine to anyone out there who is tired of the regular advice on how to cure your slice 100 different ways.

Great for Travel
The Golfer is a great publication. I just planned our last trip to Hawaii thanks to their recent article on Hawaii golf. Hawaii was great and I recommend everyone TO GO and to subscribe to The Golfer if they enjoy exotic golfing destinations. They wrote in detail on several great courses and gave us suggestions for dining and wine and all the new gadgets for 2004!!!

Luxurious
The first thing I noticed about this unique golf magazine is how beautiful it is. The Golfer has the most stunning photographs of spectacular golf destinations throughout the world I have ever seen. I haven't seen any other magazine out there that even comes close to The Golfer's insight on the lifestyle of the game of golf. The Golfer has become my golf guide to travel throughout the world. I just finished reading an article on Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand and have planned our next getaway there in December. They have great articles on travel, style, dining, equipment, resorts, and where to look for real estate. They go a step further than all the other golf magazines by focusing on where to play and where to stay; where to eat while you're there and where to go shopping while you're in the area. Every resort they review is top notch and they haven't missed yet. I highly recommend The Golfer magazine to anyone out there who loves the game of golf and the lifestyle it exudes.

Great
This is one of the best Golf Magazines out there pertaining to golf travel - it writes about exotic locations all over the globe. Their last issue dealt with dramatic ocean side courses in Hawaii and the issue before had the "Pebble Beach" of New Zealand featured, Kauri Cliffs, which looked so great my Wife and I went down there last month to enjoy a little R&R and it was tremendous. This magazine is the best snowboard mag out there. Every time I read I wanna go shred. It's got ill pics, sweet columns, and great coverage. It gives props to the guys who deserve them. Oh, and the poster is usually pretty tight too. You gotta subscribe to this one if you're lookin for a snowboard mag.

Other recommendations...any snowboard mag is worth buyin...but this is the one that's worth subscribin to. GET IT.

Too Many Ads
This is a good magazine if your looking for pics but otherwise there are way to many ads. There isn't anything but ads!

ALL the Tour News, College Golf & Club Level News - Weekly!
Why should you get this magazine? If you are lacking in news regarding ALL of the tours (literally): PGA, LPGA, Senior, European, Asian tours, Buy.com and the mini circuits - they cover every tour event every week.

If you want rankings of every player worldwide, the money list and the weekly top finishers of every professional golf event from the televised tour events to the Greater Podunk Open with a top prize of $1,500 dollars, it's listed here. This is the only place that covers the college golf season in great detail.

While it's technically not a trade magazine, they cover new equipment announcements in a trade magazine manner - cost, distribution and advertising plans.

If you combined "Fortune" with "The Sporting News" - that's basically GolfWeek. They basically approach it as "the business of golf."

Which might sound like faint praise but it is actually a high compliment - they approach everything with a objective distance even when they are doing feature stories on golfers. They are sometimes harsh but always honest & fair. While some golf writers dance around an issue of a Sunday collapse, they are honest and forthright enough to address the issue without getting personal or vindictive. This is not the magazine on trying to knock 2 strokes off your game, that's what the other magazines are for.

Just like "Fortune" for golf, it's on the business of golf: the people, the tours, the equipment and what's going on. It is a lot of info, news, analyses and statistics. It's not for everyone but if you or the intended reader is someone who tries to figure out on Thursday which channel has opening round coverage or watches the Golf Channel regularly, this is one of the best magazines in America right now, not just on golf (and I read about 85 magazines a month). Get it. It's great. (you can also check out their website to get an idea of the excellent writing but amazon.com is a much more inexpensive subscription). ... Read more

Nice to be told now!
Great magazine, but it would have been nice to be told when I originally subscribed (from a voucher in the magazine) that subscriptions were not available to Australia. Took my money and only received on issue on time and another one or two many months later. Thanks heaps :(

I first heard of Dance Spirit from the studio i dance at. I would read it occationally. Then after i subscribed to it i read it cover to cover. If you fly fish the Northwest, you'll love this magazine
Beautiful photography and pretty good writing are the hallmarks of this magazine. It focuses on locations rather than on tying, equipment, or other issues. Those of us who live in Washington and Oregon are lucky to have a magazine of this quality dedicated to our area. Fun football
Excellent magazine with in-depth interviews and news coverage not easily-available here in the U.S. At times it pokes fun at the games stars, management, officials, and even its fans, yet it also is not afraid to tackle important issues in the game. Also includes fun contests in every issue.

Aside from the fact that the photographers go out of their way to insure that athletic company logos appear as often as possible in the magazine's many photo spreads, Four Four Two is an excellent read. ... Read more

Ads are common
Surf is a good magazine. All large commercial surfing magazines (including Surfer the oldest and the industry standard/bible) have many pages devoted solely to advertisement. I find the articles on professional surfers good, while the coverage of pro surfing events could be a little more extensive.

Excellent gift for your favorite surfer
My surfer boyfriend reads this mag cover to cover every issue. Great gift because it's a bit expensive & something he probably wouldn't spring for. Very few ads, the pics are magnificent & articles are interesting even to a non-surfer such as myself. He loves it & saves every issue.

Surf Rag as Art Revue: It works!!!
This is 'surfer' magazine for grown-ups (present owner-editor is, in fact, the past editor of 'Surfer' when, in my opinion it was at its best). Printed on heavy stock using the finest printing techniques makes this more of a coffee table magazine than a heavily thumbed through surf rag because of its unbelievably beautiful photographs and text. Specializes in extended essays about early surf pioneers, iconic surf figures (shapers, surfers, characters) from surfing's glory days, and heavily photographed surfari's. This is definitely the kind of magazine that one stores away after reading in order to have another look in a few years time. The magazine began to take commercial ads a couple of years ago which is a shame, but I suppose an economic necessity. For this reason and because the editors have failed to have their mailing envelopes printed with the warning 'DO NOT BEND,' which results in a permanently bent magazine after it has been shoved through the mail slot, I rate it only four stars. If the Do Not Bend warning ever gets placed on its envelopes, the magazine rates a great big bright 5 stars!

A beautifully photographed surf journal that you'll save
This is THE magazine for gorgeous surf photos and inspiring articles. The price may seem steep, but it will seem like a bargain once you see this beautifully produced, high quality magazine with almost no advertising at all (they have a few ads near the back, but nothing like "normal" surf mags.) The magazines are created to be read, as well as collected, with amazing surf photography and articles. They even come in a large envelope to protect the cover from abuse in the mail (plus, they never sticker the front of the magazine, another collector's bonus.)

It's not another flashy, ad supported publication - it's an artistically and surf oriented collection of articles and photography from around the world. This is a magazine for surfers, friends of surfers, photography junkies and artists alike. It is the definitive surf publication. ... Read more

warning: it's no wahine!
I picked up a copy hoping to replace Wahine (oh how I miss it!), but I was disappointed. More like a teen magazine than a surf publication. The cover says "For girls who want a little action," and that pretty much sums it up. Very little action. It's full of ads, and it emphasizes shopping over surfing, with features like "Crazy For Shoes?" and "32 Styles Built for the Beach." If you want to sit on the beach and look pretty, it's your mag, but for a much better balance of substance and style--real surf tips, real surf gear--try Surf Life for Women (easy to find on the Web).

Wow! This magazine was so awesome. Even though I don't surf but live in Stinson Beach and watch surfing, I love to read about it. I think all girls should order it. It is very interesting and cool it read!

Awesome mag!
This magazine is great! I was totally happy that i found a surfing magazine that was about girl surfers. i exspecially like it because i can get it in michigan even though im not by the ocean. usually they would only have it in state where people can surf. i thought it was awesome.

Not only Surfing
This is a great magazine for girls (duh)! It's not only about surfing, there are also some skateboarding and snowboarding articles in there. The only problem is that some of the articles are too long and just go on forever about...really nothing in particular. but don't let that stop you!!! this is a great magazine i highly recommend it!!! ...
