Superb For Anyone Who Loves The Outdoors!!!
I've got a subscription to this magazine and I love it. Been getting it for 2 years now and eagerly await each issue. This is a magazine which covers everything from hunting to motocross racing, but is mainly dedicated to providing hunting and fishing tips. It has Excellent photography. Excellent Coverage Of Our Biggest And Most Beautiful State
I have loved Alaska since the first time I visited the state in 1992. I have been back many times since, and attempt to visit at least once a year. "Alaska" magazine is an excellent way to keep informed about happenings in the state, especially when you can't be there personally. The articles are well written and interesting, and focus, as you would expect, is on the breathtaking outdoors, and outdoor activities. Local history, politics, and environmental issues are also well represented, as are amusing human interest stories.

Because I am a frequent visitor, I also use the advertisements heavily. Normally I don't like ads, but the places and things I have discovered thanks to ads in "Alaska" magazine alone make the price of the subscription worthwhile.

For a witty, entertaining, and educational look at our biggest (and I think most beautiful) state, "Alaska" magazine can't be beat! ... Read more

Great Pics
...and that's about it. O.K. so that's not entirely true. There are some good articles and the trick tips rock. And yeah it's a wakeboarding magazine so that alone gives it a high score. It's worth the price for the pictures alone and if your a wakeboarding enthusiast it's a must.

It's all about the sponsors!
This magazine is good for those wakeboarders who are new to the sport. I give it 3 out of 5 stars due to the fact that it has quality pictures of wakeboarding in it other wise the score would have been quit a bit lower. However, if you have any amount of time invested in wakeboarding this is not the subscription for you! There is another magazine out there that is straight up with what is going on in your sport. Cuts the bull and feeds you the goods. So go to your local boardshop and pick one up!

This mag is awesome!
This magaizine is well worth the low cost. It has great pictures, interesting articles, and informative guides for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. It even has a section that shows and explians how to do certian tricks!

I think this magazine is awesome. The pictures in there are amazing and the stories are great too. I have a lot of friends that are in this magazine and they show them at their best and worst. They don't tell lies.

Cool Pictures, that's about it
This magazine has some incredible pictures! Watching wakeboarding on TV, you really don't get the same appreciation for how high above the water these guys (and gals) are, and how contorted there bodies can get. Beyond that, this magazine doesn't impress. The articles barely scratch the surface of the topics discussed, and the bios on riders doesn't really make you feel like you've gotten to know them. If you are looking for really cool pictures of wakeboarding, this is your magazine. However, if you're looking to learn about the riders and how to perform their tricks, I'd pass. ... Read more

Gray's Sporting Journal is one of the hidden gems of sporting and wildlife magazines. Consider the publication values: photographic essays (on drift boating, for example, or trap shooting in Europe) are part of every issue and are always very well done; the pages are glossy, thick and substantial; there's art (usually a painting) in the back of each issue; you'll often find a poem tucked away in its 150-plus pages; and there are fewer advertisements here than you'll see in a Field & Stream. But what makes it most difficult to send an issue to the recycling bin is the writing, which is of a depth, breadth, and quality that you will be hard-pressed to find in any other outdoor magazine. Interesting reading for hunters & Fishermen
This magazine is a pleasant change from "Field & Stream" and "Outdoor life" The articles are well written and harken back to a day and age when one had time to sit by the fire and read a good story. 5 stars for writing quality. It's expensive per issue but you'll get your money's worth out of the reading time. Ad's but far fewer than those other pulp journals. ... Read more

I really enjoy Racer X, I have read most of the popular motocross magazines, and I think the quality of this one is exceptional, and its just freaking cool!

comprehensive
Fly Fisherman is a very good general interest fly fishing magazine; that is, there's a little something for every angler. Generally featuring a coupla destination features and very thorough tactics/gear features, Fly Fisherman does a good job covering the bases. This is generally the world of trouting, but there is generally a non-trout feature as well, whether bonefishing, salmon/steelhead or some exotic species, Fly Fisherman does it's honest best. The art and illustrations are usually quite good and while the writing doesn't sparkle, it gets the job done, in a rather soldierly manner. ... Read more

Definitive source of US rugby info
Definately the best source for US rugby info. Great coverage of everything from high school up. Great comprehensive match coverage and indepth articles about people and place important to rugby. The player & official profiles are funny and informative.
Geographically diverse reporting is a real plus. Tabloid sized and printed on newspaper (think Parade magazine for ruggers).

IFS a good magazine for Figure skating fans
This magazine is truly International. It has sections on the various countries that participate in figure skating. Of course, there is a large section on North American Skaters. Besides results of competitions and article about one or two skaters an issue, it has little news items and pictures of skaters at competitions hanging out together. I like it very much, but I prefer BLADES ON ICE because it has longer articles.

The premier cycling rag.
I used to be a magazine junkie, reading literally 20 magazines monthly. However, with our first born, I now have to be extremely discerning with my spare time for reading. To wit, all of my cycling magazine subscriptions have now lapsed, but I have hardly noticed it. However, I have kept my subscription to Velonews going.

I admit that you can get up-to-date news from cyclingnews.com, but there just something to be said about kicking back into a chair with a good book, or magazine in this case. They cover all types of cycling that I enjoy, road, mountain bike, and cross. They do not cover the free-riding scene, which is fine by me. In addition, they do a good job in covering both the men's and the women's scene, and also covering the local US scene.

In addition to its detailed race reports, I enjoy Velonews' regular columns, ranging from the long time cartoonist Patrick O'Grady's scathingly funny cartoons, to the down to earth writing style of pros like Todd Wells and Tyler Hamilton.

The only thing I don't like about Velonews is its larger format. I wished every issue were printed like its gear guide issue size. Kudos to them though, for getting rid of the silly staples that seem to release all the pages after a few days of reading. ... Read more

Complete, but it has been better
Sports Weekly is the most detailed look at football and baseball that you will find. It doesn't get any better if you're looking for objective facts, statistics and weekly coverage of your favorite MLB/NFL team. As a baseball fan I subscribed to the magazine (then Baseball Weekly) in 1995 and I have renewed my subscription every year. When the magazine became Sports Weekly around 2 years ago, I knew the baseball coverage would suffer greatly with the addition of football. Sure enough, I was right. Now football dominates just about every cover and close to two thirds of the magazine, even in football's off-season. If you are an NFL fan, this magazine puts to shame just about every publication out there of its kind. For baseballl fans, you will not find better coverage anywhere else for the time being. But be forwarned, we don't know when they will sell out again.

I follow the entire mlb from Saint Louis
I've been getting this particular magazine for nearly two years now and I love it. As a life-long Cubs fan (and yes, this IS our year) who recently moved to Saint Louis, it would be very difficult to keep up on the Cubs if it wasn't for this magazine. It was especially helpful when I went a few months without Internet connection, but I digress. Not only do I get to see what the Cubs are up to, but the magazine gives you the scoop on every team (organized by division) every week. In addition, they cover the major stories in baseball or study an issue more thoroughly than a local paper might. Although I read it for the baseball, the football section of the paper is similarly organized and seems like excellent reading. I highly recommend Sports Weekly. ... Read more

The best cruising magazine
Don't believe a word Bob Bitching has to say ;) but this is a truly great mag for those cruising or thinking about cruising (most of us).

Latitudes & Attitudes is the best sailing and cruising magazine on the market today. Great quality and funny stories, as well as good information for the cruiser.

NO BS
These guys are great...none of that..."this gun is great" for every review...some real surprises, like when the cheap clone is better in almost everyway then the originals that are 300 more...
They are no respectors of persons, One S&W they will love, one they will tell you to pass on.
The other thing I like is they look at aplication...for example.
44 mag Revolvers, they like the S&W 629 for normal range and light hunting...but would consider the Ruger super redhawk for heavy loads and longer distances...

Get it...it is very worth it!!

This is the first place I check
Buying a new firearm isn't cheap, and unlike products like electronics, the quality of guns are really all over the place. This magazine doesn't accept product advertising ' unlike GunWorld, Guns and Ammo, and many other mags - so lots of people see it as the 'consumer reports' of the firearms. This isn't actually true, because they don't use standardized empirical testing, but instead rely on experience and personal judgement, as well as shooting results, in making Buy, Conditional Buy, and Don't Buy recommendations.

Considering that even a 'cheap' quality gun is going to run you $500, and you might be lucky to get $350 back from a dealer if you don't like it ' getting an experts opinion before you buy is an excellent idea. If you are looking for an over-under, custom carry piece, or any other quality firearm, you can save yourself hundreds of dollars in lost resale by avoiding some of the junk out there.

When I'm looking for a new firearm for my collection, I always check here first for advice. They cover everything from buying used Mauser's to Kimber Custom Carry's, as well as bird and deer standby's like the 870 or Ruger 77. Each month usually covers 5 or so "topics", each with 3 guns or products - and the issues are conviently three-hole punched. I keep mine in a couple top shelf binders on my reloading bench for easy access. ... Read more
