4-0 out of 5 stars Great magazine for the climber in you
I've been a subscriber for years and have not been disappointed. Over years the magazine has improved in it's content as well as photographs. The magazine focuses on all aspects of climbing. Articles are informative and in some cases inspirational. You'll learn about climbing areas and climbers throughout the US as well as the world. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed. The price tag seems a bit high for only 9 issues/year but you'll see that it's worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars On Belay....Climb Away!
For the serious climber with years of experience, or the newcomer looking to understand the basics, this magazine is the best source of technical information as well as exhilarating accounts of people climbing on the edge around the world.

This is a magazine you will want to keep for the pictures and the stories...and unlike most outside magazines...it doesn't bulk up on non-sport related advertizing...Way to go Climbing! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Four Skateboard Magazines
This is a (very brief) review of four different skateboard magazines. To make sure that previous experience was not biasing my opinion (too much), I got four issues that were out at the same time. The magazines are Transworld Skateboarding (TS), Thrasher Magazine (TM), Skateboarder (SM) and SBC Skateboard (SS).

For photography, TS probably takes the lead. For the skateboard lifestyle, the edge goes to TM. For those who like to read text, SM has the most. Surprisingly, the best is probably SS, which is a balanced combination of all three styles.

Before spending too much on any one magazine, I suggest you try the same so that you get THE magazine you want.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nothing beats Thrasher
Thrasher is the best skateboarding magazine in the world. Nothing can top it. You have all youre riding info about the pros, the am's, the gear, the tricks, the terrain and anything else youve ever want to know. There are stories, interviews, mail, tour info, great pix and some nice bio's. If you skate there is no other alternative to reading Thrasher.

Unless youre blind. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Targeted toward the dumbest marks.
Now, there's nothing wrong with being a mark. At some point in their life, every wrestling fan was a mark. Now with the growing popularity of the internet, more and more fans are becoming smarks (which has the potential to eventually put this magazine out of business).

Back in 1998, I was a mark. I was addicted to the WWF and had to have every piece of merchandise on it that I could find. Also back then, since SmackDown! hadn't even debuted yet, this magazine was just simply called "WWF Magazine". Needless to say, I got myself a two-year subscribtion and was usually enthusiastic when it came in the mail.

When I got a bit older (and smarter), I realized just how bad this magazine was. It's obviously just targeted to marks, since all of the columns act like everything in wrestling is 100% real. If that wasn't bad enough, the writers of these columns try to make it seem like these are deep, thought-provoking issues, and even try to travel into the minds of what these fictional characters are possibly thinking.

Another thing that bugged me was how outdated this magazine always was. For example, I'd get an issue an February, and all they'd be talking about was stuff that happened in December. It's sometimes ebarassing when you read an article that questions "How long will the fued between The Rock and Ken Shamrock last?", when in reality, the fued already ended long ago. That's just the thing about wrestling - it's a fast-paced business and everything can change at the drop of a hat.

5-0 out of 5 stars WWE hardcore fan
Smackdown magazine gives you the inside details of your favorite wrestlers [good and bad]. If you like Thursday Smackdown then this magazine is for YOU! PLUS, the pictures are awesome. Most of the time the poster they have in WWE magazine are really great to hang on the wall.
It gets even better! If you get both Raw and Smackdown magazine deliver to your house you won't be dissappointed. It has high impact photos, interviews of your favorite wrestlers, up coming shows and payper view that might come to your area and so much more!
Smack your computer and order it NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars A WWE fans DREAM
This magazine is great. It goes inside smackdown and talks personally with some of the smackdown talent. This is a great magazine and i recomend it to any WWE fan even if you don'y watch snackdown, it's good way to keep in touch with the wrestling world!

1-0 out of 5 stars A Bad Magazine
This magazine started out as WWE Magazine then they decided to change the name to Smackdown Magazine and what was worse is that they didn't even give people a chance to cancel their subscription if they wanted to. This magazine is nothing but a piece of crap!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best gymnastics magazine out there
International Gymnast (IG) is a wonderful magazine for any gymnast, parent, fan, coach/teacher, and anyone else involoved in gymnastics. It's probably the best, most complete, and longest gymnastics magazine out there. Inside Gymnastics and USA Gymnastics and the other magazines are great, but they don't have as much content as IG.

International Gymnast's staff is comprised of many former gymnasts and people involoved in gymnastics somehow. That way, you can make sure the articles are very accurate and mistake-free. IG features competition news and results for everything from the European National Championships to the USA Olympic Trials. Additionally, there are tons of wonderful photographs accompanying the articles! IG also has beautiful posters, the latest on retired gymnasts, photo galleries, gymnastics news around the world, and coverage of collegiate championships. Even the advertisements for leotards, grips, gymnastics supplies, etc., are interesting!

Overall, I love IG and think that is a fantastic magazine. If you love gymnastics, you will also love this magazine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine Tuned
International Gymnast - or IG, as it's easier to call - was the first gymnastics magazine to which I subscribed. It took about 6 weeks for the first issue to reach me, and when it did, I was dizzy with excitement. I had never seen so many pictures of gymnasts, gymnasts who were exotic and foreign or completely infamous. There was a poster inside. There were articles by Nadia Comaneci and Bela Karolyi and Shannon Miller. There were advertisements for gorgeous leotards offering free catalogs and fabric samples. It was too much joy!

This is a very well put-together, well-respected, professional gymnastics magazine, yet its editors and writers are all open and friendly to the subscribers, and very close to the actual intimate world of gymnastics. Several staff members are former gymnasts themselves, or are married to gymnasts.

IG makes you feel right at home in the gymnastics community. With a subscription you get posters - quite large ones when events like Olympics or World Championships happen, pull-out gymnastics calendars, advice on gymnastics moves from coaches, lavish articles covering meets, exquisite photography from top gymnastics photographers such as Dave Black and Eileen Langsley, information on the Code of Points, college gymnastics, and much more than I can list.

It's not quite as bubbley as, say, Gym Stars, the former quarterly magazine from Britain, which doled out prizes and posters non-stop, but IG is probably the best known and most together magazine out there. Even though IG is in the USA, it manages to fine-detail all countries with gymnastics programs, from Canada to Holland to Australia to South Africa.

If you don't want to subscribe right away, pick up an issue at a bookstore which offers a large variety of magazines, as IG is often hard to find at stores. The best things are worth searching for! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars O mundo gira e a bola rola
As there is this problem ,futebol is completely marginalized in USA ,and I do not enjoy reading on line, bothers my eyes! I want to hold the reading material in my hands, hehe!

To say, I also miss the "pink pages" of each issue of "La Gazzetta Dello Sport", it is too expensive to purchase from news kiosks here , "Il Corriere dello Sport" *does not even exist* on these newsstands here in Chicago! Uffa!

"World Soccer", ~the English futebol magazine has been sent from the goddess to quench my appetite to stay current "world wide" concerning "the beautiful game"!

With correspondents world wide, I can read monthly not ONLY on the Premiership, but of my beloved serie A (Italia) , futebol brasileiro, futebol argentino, and worldwide futebol from all countries !

The biggest joy, however, is that this journal is a "throwback" to times when magazines contained articles worth reading and multitude great fotos.

Most magazines these days are slick, glossy paper advertising rags , where the articles serve only as "filler" inbetween the adverts, such is our consumer -driven world has assaulted us!

These types of magazines are not worth anything but to wrap fishbones in their worthless pages, here is where "World Soccer" is so different!

Here in each "World Soccer" issue, there of course are adverts, but they are unobtrusive , and the excellent journalism is the order of the day! The passion is evident in each page.

To make avaliable on Amazon this "pretty move" ~ to offer this magazine is worth 1000 stars!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice presentation, strong content
The advent of the internet has taken a sledgehammer to the relevance of print media outlets. However one magazine that has avoided internet-related obsolescence is World Soccer. The major caveat for US readers, however, is how quickly the magazine can be shipped. In New York City in my pre-internet days (mid '90s), I'd wait with baited breath for the monthly arrival of each addition, overlooking the fact that many of their news stories were sometimes a month old by the time the mag hit the stands (I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of this lag time in publication, at least here in the states).

So if you're someone who follows world soccer current events on a daily basis via the internet, World Soccer magazine will be of little use, other than the pictures and the coverage of regions often overlooked on the internet (Africa, Asia, etc.); however if you're only an occasional follower of the sport and want a print resource to keep you abreast of the major goings-on within the world game, this is the perfect choice (other good choices are FourFourTwo and GOAL magazines).

One of the first items I often find myself turning to is the "Team of the Month," which super-imposes players' names on a graphic green field (a.k.a. the "pitch") in the positions that they would take up, were it an actual team.

Good regional coverage...although there's a major emphasis on the European club game - then again, Europe is where the main action, with South America running a distant second. ... Read more
