Best magazine for salt water/deep sea fishing
This is a great magazine for those who want to learn more about fishing techniques as well as unbiased, factual product information. Because it goes into some level of discussion, it assumes a basic understanding fishing, and is therefore ideal for those who has already gone saltwater fishing before.

The magazine originally started targeting the New England audience, but quickly gained readership in other regions. To address this need, The Edge began to send out (I believe) four different editions, based on geography. They now lump all the regional articles into one magazine. This is tremendous, as it give you an insight into how anglers in other regions deal with issues.

Most of the articles focus on techniques and strategies. An example publication would contain an article on how to prepare for a multi-day trips from Southern California, reading temperature and current patterns off of New Jersey, trolling patterns for Texan Groupers, and how to rig a balihoo for Florida sailfish. They then will add what is going on in the political front, as well as an analysis of the latest two speed reel.

All too often, magazines in this genre are no more than slaves to the advertisers. The Edge keeps this to a minimum, so that you can buy in confidence.

In summary, this is the best fishing magazine to which I subscribe. I get three other fishing magazines, but this is the one that I almost always read cover to cover. ... Read more

National Fisherman
National Fisherman gives a unique insight into the life of the commercial fisherman. Anyone who enjoyed the book or movie Perfect Storm must subscribe to this magazine. Each month it includes in-depth stories on the commercial fishing industry and the people who fish. It also is full of products that are designed and used by commercial fishermen. As a recreational boater, I find that I can learn about far more reliable and durable products than I find in magazines written for the recreational fisherman. ... Read more

Beautifully Illustrated & Informative
I really enjoy this magazine very much! The photographs are simply amazing, the articles are interesting & very well put together. It's nice to be able to see parts of Colorado in my own livingroom, & be able to decide where I'd like to venture to, rather than make a blind trip somewhere & be disappointed. The publisher also gives you the option of a free Hunting or Fishing guide to accompany your subscription. I can tell alot of time goes into the structure of this magazine.
